In 1979 The Scenics played a show at Andy Meyers' (Scenic guitarist, bassist and songwriter) high school- Don Mill Collegiate Institute, or "DMCI". Gig went well-- suburban kids responded to the excitement of having actual "Punks" in their midst by tagging the walls of the school with "Punk Cocaine" and "Cocaine Punk". What the grafitti lacked in style if made up for in size. Huge!
Someone had made up Tshirts as a fund raiser for the student council or the chess club or some such. Decades later, The Scenics' current drummer, Mark Perkell (also a DMCI grad, Andy and Mark have played music together since grade 7!) found one of those Tshirts packed away in a box. These shirts are a reproduction of the Scenics DMCI shirt. A timeless fashion classic. In a long forgotten lo-fi kinda way.

“It wasn't so
much that The Scenics were ahead of their time in 1977, it's more that almost everybody else didn't even know what time it was.
New York had Talking Heads, and England was blessed with XTC, but here was their equal in Toronto...”
